Man looses fingers in accident at work
April 14th 2016
Cheshire based solicitors, Poole Alcock help many people who suffer serious injuries as a result of an accident due to the fault of someone else - accidents which could easily have been avoided with appropriate and reasonable measures in place.
Briefly, at the time of the accident the Claimant was at his place of work and was employed as a tyre fitter. He had been instructed to use a plastic ring to prevent the securing clamps from scratching the rim of the wheel and was instructed to hold the plastic ring in place whilst securing the clamp but unfortunately this resulted in the clamps trapping the claimants fingers which resulted in the his middle finger being amputated and the index finger being severely damaged. The index finger was re-attached but had no real functional value and was subsequently amputated.
This was the second time Poole Alcock represented a Claimant against the same employer with exactly the same accident circumstances.
Dan Stitt who acted for the claimant commented “Poole Alcock played an instrumental part in assisting the Claimant to get intensive physiotherapy and rehabilitation to aid his recovery from his hand injuries. We actively consider rehabilitation at the earliest opportunity. This is to help secure full treatment at the earliest opportunity to aid recovery and where necessary an early return to work.”
Poole Alcock was able to secure a successful outcome for the Claimant, recovering the sum of £110,000.00 for the injuries, financial expenses incurred and future losses such as loss of employability, decorating and gardening costs.
In recognition of their extensive experience and expertise, Poole Alcock’s specialist personal injury team include members of the Law Society Personal Injury Accredited Panel and Senior Litigators with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
